    Betty Leung(publicity)

Betty Leung    Student ID no.: 0831913 Course: History of Art Position running for: Publicity Secretary
The main responsibility of the publicity secretary is to attract public notice to WHKS, and it can be conveyed by a combination of verbal or visual communication. To do the job efficiently requires skills, practices and passion, and I believe that my past experiences have prepared me in fulfilling this role significantly.
I gained interest in art and design since I came to study in the UK. I did Art & Design as well as Design & Technology for GCSE and A levels, and gained full marks in 7 of the 12 modules. I became knowledgeable in Photoshop and Illustrator as well as some CAD programmes during my high school education. I now study History of Art, and the nature of the course enables me to contribute more time to WHKS as well as allowing me to have more knowledge about the art world.
In the past year, I edited the photos for Shogun Burger's magazine and WUCCF. I was also a member of the props and backstage team for the WHKS variety show Warlectric. I designed the poster (the front cover of the booklet), the logo as well as the crew T-shirt.  Taking part in Warlectric makes me believe that success can only be achieved through harmony and co-operation, and I appreciate the efforts of my fellow team members immensely.
As a candidate for publicity secretary, I believe that publications for outsiders of WHKS are as important as those for insiders. I will strive to promote WHKS by reflecting the unique lifestyle and culture of Hong Kong to the public, as well as to increase the operational transparency of WHKS by improving the quality of publication for our members using my creative skills.

Lesley Choy    Student ID no.: 0805973 Course: Economics Position running for: Publicity Secretary
To me, the main role of publicity secretary is being responsible to promote functions and to notify the public about activities hold by the Hong Kong Society. It is a very important post since it is the major route of communication between the members and the committee members. With effective promotion and advertising campaign, more people will be aware of the events and hopefully leading to higher participation by our fellow members.
I have been learning drawing since I was 10 and have studied Visual Arts for 2 years.  I have also developed great interest in Graphic Design in the recent few years. I was the committee of Living Art Society in my secondary school and had been responsible for designing posters. Furthermore, I have been exposed to the world of advertising since my participation in the school’s bazaar and the global fair held by AIESEC Warwick. This year, I was fortunate enough to be part of the WHKS marketing team in the variety show - “Warlectric” and have learnt valuable marketing strategies from the seniors. I believe my past enrolments and skills have well equipped me to take up this committed and challenging post. With my creativity and interest in design, I will strive my best to raise more awareness of the events to the public.
Facebook is one of the means of communication widely used nowadays. Therefore, I think the best way to enhance the communication between the members and committees is to do it through facebook messages and e-newsletters.. If I am fortunate to be elected as the Publicity Secretary, I will publish e-newsletter at the start of each term which includes news and upcoming events together with other information which is of the members’ interest. I believe I am an excellent candidate for this position, so please vote for me!

With my logical mind and ability to analyse, I think I am the right person for this job.
    Keeping the website up-to-date
  • To ensure members get the latest update of events
  • To come up with new ideas for the website to increase the usage
  • To upload more photos and add more descriptions of each event
  • Co-operating with other committee members to ensure events are running more smoothly
  • Past Experiences
